My dealer is telling me that the only weights that can fit on the R4 rears is the 50 lb starter weights? He confirmed this with the regional guy.

Can this be right?

JD Parts Catalog for 3720 shows 52lb weights for 15 x 19.5 or 43x16-20 R4s and 110lb weights for 11.2-24 R1s

Yeah, the weights in the catalog specifies them at 23.6kg (52lbs). My weights are actually stamped 25kg which makes them 55 pounders but they look identical to the ones in the catalog. The larger 50kg versions (110lbs) are too large (in diameter) for the R4 rims. The owners manual states that you can install 3 per side although I have seen the online deere configurator mention 2 per side max. If you use 3 per side, this should give you an additional 165lbs per side.

BTW, the term starter weight is confusing. In some applications, the starter weight and additional weights are different. In this particular case, the weights are the same. So you use 1 weight as a "starter" weight and each subsequent weight (same weight) would be installed as an "additional" weight. The weights have holes predrilled for either application and which holes you use to fasten the weight will depend upon which application (starter/additional) you plan to use it in.

Hope this makes it a little clearer for you.
