I know it is on here but can't find; filter #'s,and I have developed a leak I believe to be on the power steering tank. Dealer can order new one and have shipped to my house for $30.00, but does anyone know why it started to leak??? Have not bumped into anything that I know of to cause the leak. Looks like seam is coming loose???

Thanks, Terry

The power steering tank needs to be removed and the system plumbed into the hydraulic system. This is a warrenty issue reguardless of the age of the machine. Either take it to the dealer for the "update kit" or you can get the kit and do it yourself. It takes me about 4 hours to do it.

as far as filter #s... please use a Branson hydraulic filter. I have had some issues with using other well known filters that will just screw on. while you are at the dealer, just pick up a couple of engine filters while you are there.

Thanks Virgil; I called dealer last week and they did not mention it being a warranty issue, thanks fir the heads up. Will do on the hi-dro filter. Wanted to use baldwin, wix or napa gold for fuel, air, and oil; closer than dealer.

Thanks, Terry

I have a 4520 and was going to do the power steering lines so I could eliminate the tank but in talking with a dealer have been told that the metal band that holds the tank in place actually deforms the tank and puts a kink in the side that then splits. He said if you replace the tank and use a few washers on the bolts that holds the band so they doesn't squash the tank they don't split any more.

Thanks for the info Brad. I still have not contacted dealer, so not sure if I will buy a new tank or remove?

The power steering tank on my 3510(2002) has cracks in it also. I think it is caused by exposure to sunlight degrading the plastic over time.
Just my $.02.

Thanks for the reply; my tractor is under shed unless being used. From what Virgil (posted above) and dealer have said, this is a problem. Now I'am trying to find out if they will do the relocation for free under recall??? I will know something tomorrow I hope.

Well I did not have a power steering leak after all. 3820 is already plumbed, tank on left is fuel. Had to buy new left side fuel tank.

Thanks for the replies

Good info, I replaced my tank today and used a couple washers on each bolt before mounting it. Now the tank is just secure, but not compressed. Also replaced my clutch return spring (under dash) while I was at it. Both jobs pretty easy!
