Branson 3820i
My 11 year old 3820i needs a new fuel pump and I just found that the part from Branson is over $130. Are there any aftermarket fuel pumps that a parts house would carry that would work?

Also, which position on the fuel filter valve is open? The markings are in Korean.

Thanks!!

Usually the lever pointing down is on and pointing to the side is off.

Is the pump an electric lift pump like on current Bransons or something else?

The lever swings from straight up to straight down with Korean characters on each extreme. I think it is an electric lift pump. The pump is connected to the firewall as seen in the attached picture.

I replaced my 3510 lift pump (on firewall) with a Mr Gasket Diesel pump from parts store 4-5 years ago.
It was about $60.

It depends on what the requirements are for your injection pump.. According to your pictures, your inj. pump requires 3-5 psi.. to the pump inlet.
Check out the Airtex E8251
The BIGGEST PROBLEM w/ people changing out their electric lift pumps is, they get one that has the WRONG pressure.. More is NOT better..
Good luck.

So best to match factory spec?

It makes sense although "more is better" also seems logical on some level.

That's a nice pump right there.. & 4-7psi is whats needed. Think I'll save that one to "my favorites".. Thanks, Stimw.

I just bought a new Mr. Gasket 12D diesel transfer pump off Ebay for $28 shipped. That saved over $100! Thanks so much for the recommendation!!

Thanks for looking in your shop manual and finding the info on the correct lever position.

What a great resource this forum is!
