I just purchased a new battery for my 3840 - a Traveller 31P from Tractor Supply. (I'll add another response with a link - apparently I have to have 3 posts before I can include a link).
Fits perfectly in the compartment. Note the "P" is significant - that gets you standard automotive style posts (which is what the battery cables on the 3840 mate with).
