Have a 3840 that will not stay in forward gear. It does not move the shift lever out of position, it stays in place. This is an internal gear problem. Pulled trans lid off and I found a loose nut on the rear main gear shaft. Visual inspection does not reveal any obvious shearing of teeth.
Any one ever worked on the trans or know if a loose nut would cause that problem.
A lot of dealers have stopped carrying Montanas so does anyone have a number for montana corp or customer service?
