3930
I have a ford, a 3930 2wd 1994. I believe I have tranmission fluid coming out of the over flow or vent on top of motor. Not sure what to do or where to start. Any help would be thankful. Not much of a mech. But can figure most things out. The tractor has done very little work since 2000 Only 357 hr. on it now

A series of photo's showing where you think the hydraulic fluid is coming out would help. In other words. start with a shot of the tractor and zero in on where the leak is. Of course the description of transmission fluid coming out of the motor does not help much. There is no transmission/hydraulic fluid in the engine. Engine oil is in the engine, Coolant is in the engine. The only place I can think of where the transmission fluid comes together with the engine is the hydraulic pump. Have you checked your oil level in the engine? Is it overflowing? What does it smell like? What is the level of hydraulic fluid in the common sump of the transmission/hydraulic reservoir? What overflow? I see this is a 52 horse 3cyl diesel with and 8x2 transmission. Any other info would help, but pix would help a lot.

image.jpgimage.jpg. Not sure if pic will go. I think I found the issue after your reply about it should not be tran. Oil. I by pass the tran oil cooler and no leak so far. The motor oil level is good so nothing else should be coming from that vent. So $5 hose found the issue I hope. Now I can not find the hole in the cooler hose but one connection is loose at the factory clamp on the alum tubing. Can you replace these hoses. One pic shows the by pass the other shows the cooler hose . Also can I run the tractor without the cooler, not under load. Thanks for your reply it help me get back on tract.. Randall

If you could PM a fellow member named Soundguy, he is the all things Ford tractor guru and could answer your specific questions.. I would not have even thought an 8x2 transmission would have an oil cooler, but what do I know? apparently not much. I am glad you have tracked it down, not is just getting the parts and replacing them.

Ryder, bypassing the oil cooler temporarily will not harm anything. Go to a good auto parts store and get a length of 1/2" power steering/cooler bulk hose to replace yours.
