kubota rtv900: kubota mx5200
the kubota b3200 i recently bought new has been ocassionally making loud squealing sound when 1/4" 3ph lever is put into the raised position only at certain times and even though it is under warrenty, i still would appreciate the fine advice i get here on what it might be, before i take it in to get looked at. (dealer unsure without seeing it yet) here is what it does and how and when: tractor has 85 hours and has been doing this since new. at first cold start of day it works/sounds fine. the tractor primarily runs 60" mmm and 60" bush hog, both implements use the 3ph for raising. i have tested it at first cold start (tried to make it make the noise and it won't.) seems to only do it after it has run awhile and is hot. if i bush hog for say 1 hour or so and then go to raise the 3ph/bush hog when done, sometimes it will squeal loud when i first move the lever to raise (2 seconds about, then quit squealing, then the 3ph will raise. but not everytime. seems if when i get done bushogging but after disenguaging pto don't immediately raise it, and say drive it to the edge of the field, then raise it, it won't sqeal as often. not sure if that is true all the time or just coinceidence. any way, after mowing lawn for 3 hours straight and shutting down the mid pto, i moved the lever to raise 3ph/deck and it made no noise, but i played around with it, dropping the lever quick and then just moving it to raise just a slight bit, then it would make the noise just about every time. i also noticed that if i just barely moved the lever to raise position and held it there, the squeal would keep going and 3ph would never lift until i moved lever further into raise position, then squeal would quit after about 1 - 2 seconds then 3ph would lift. i am confused as sometimes it sounds/works fine, then al of the sudden it will start squealing every time i use lever. like i say, only when the fluid would be hot after use. and i have messed with the valve knob to control the 3ph gravity down speed and lock and it doesn't matter where that is set or if it is even used along the way. the hydrostat transmission seems to work fine all the time and i have run it 8 hours straight. i do question the loader valve/pump as when i run my 3ph wood splitter off the valve and feed the valve on the splitter with the tractor loader valve, it makes a slight noise. both tractor and splitter are open center valves. not the same sound as dead heading, because i have moved the tractor valve to a deadhead position and that is a different sound. i ran splitter for approximately 3 hours like this and everything worked fine, just that sound the whole time, not near as loud as the 3ph squealing sound. what do i got? something simple or catastrophic? i did the pm as the book suggests at 50 hrs and that states the hyd filter and fluid and strainer are good until 400 hrs. no joke. i did do the hst filter as book states at 50 hrs. like i say, the hst transmission seems to be fine, no noise from that, just the other functions and especially the 3ph. i do not have a loader on the tractor to fully test the tractor valve, but am very curious about that 3ph. what do ya think?

i was wondering if some pressure relief wasn't set right or maybe a crack in the pick up line (if there is such a thing, i am no expert.) kinda acts like when it squeals, it is not picking up any fluid, then all of the sudden gets fluid flow, then works. that kind of sound. it is pretty loud, not deafning, but way louder then any other hydraulic noise i have ever heard. like the pump runs dry for a quick bit. at first, when i was bush hogging and locking the 3ph knob so the 1/4" valve wouldn't leak down, i thought as i run it, somehow fluid was leaking away, then when i went to raise, it would take awhile to catch that fluid and then raise, hense the squealing noise, but that is not it as it has done it rather i use that knob or not. then i lean towards a pressure relief not being quite right (if there is such a thing) as it seems to make a slight noise when feeding my wood splitter valve. not a loud noise, not the same as a deadhead noise, but a noise when the tractor lever is moved to direct hyd flow to the splitter. kinda like a small percentage of the fluid is backing up through relief or something like that. i know my descriptions are not too good. it works fine, just these noises. could the pump not be set right? pressure relief adjustment screw be just a little off if there is such a thing? gunk on the strainer, but hst works fine and tractor has been doing this since new. hst transmission seems perfect. no excess noise or fluxuations. just the other hyd functions on the tractor and especially that 3ph.
