Sunday my 3PH stopped working but the FEL worked fine. Inspected the FEL hose connections at the recomendation of the dealer prior to their sending a tech out to look at it or pick it up for a shop visit. All the connections were good.

Tonight I went out and looked the situation over again. I moved the draft control lever up and down for the hundredth time and this time I saw the 3PH lift arms drop a little.

So I started the tractor up and slowly moved the draft control lever up and sure enough the lift arms responded. Ran the arms up and down several times, stopped them at various places, every thing seems to be normal.

The dealer is supposed to pick up the tractor tommorow to bring it to the shop. Now what do I tell them?

Still has to be a reason for it not working for two days.

I'm pretty sure you have a priority valve on that machine that "divides" the hyd. flow between the 3ph and the steering.
I don't remember which one gets "priority" on that machine but I'll geuss it's the steering (that is of course if you have power steering). I've never tried this on that model, but just for fun, turn the steering full left (or right) till it hits relief and see if the hitch works. I'm wondering if it's possible you had the wheels turned to the stop and really didn't notice? (or thought it mattered) Then again maybe it's possible the priority valve got stuck in the "steering" position, then popped loose again. I don't know, just a thought. We don't have any 3000's in the yard right now, so I can't experiment.......

The wheels were almost dead straight. I had just backed into the barn which required turning the wheels close to a locked position one way then back and forth a couple of times to line up the lift arms with the rear blade.

The original fluids are still in the tractor, I wonder if somehting floating around in the oil got struck in a valve, and now it has cleared itself. Maybe the 50 hour service will help remove any junk in the system.

The dealer made plans yesturday to pick the tractor up first thing this morning, go figure the 3PH works now. How do you fix something that is not broke? I did call them to let them know but they are going to pick it up anyway and fix a leak in one of the lift cylinders, check the adjustments on the 3PH. I told them to do the 50 hour service while they are at it. At least they are not charging me for pick up and delivery.

Any chance the front wheels were up against something when you had the problem? Even straight ahead, the steering system could relieve itself if there were enough side load. Good luck /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Front wheels were/are clear on all sides. From the day I got the tractor I have felt the 3PH was not as smooth in operation as I was used to with my 8N. The Kubota seemed to move up in jerks. Move the draft control lever a little then wait, no movement, move it a little more and the lift arms would move rapidly up a few inches.

On the 8N I could move the draft control just a touch and the lift arms would respond instantly and move nice and smooth. On the Kubota the down movement is fine.

Sounds like a little debris somewhere either restricting flow or valve motion - maybe gone for good, maybe gone until next time - fluid replacement may carry it out, but there isn't much flushing action during the draining.

One thing you can count on is that it won't screw up for the dealer - it won't happen again until it's been back at your place for a few days /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

Good luck.

How right you are. The good thing is there is some documentation of a problem early on. The period of coverage by the manufacturer is 3 years on the engine and transmission, I assume the 3PH falls under this blanket.

My father had an automotive repair business for about 10 years before he passed away. More often than not a customer's car didn't do the same thing at the shop as it did for the owner.

On an Iseki 21 horse tractor my 3 point was lifting real slow all of a sudden with a heavy tree planter on it. I was fiddling with the little knob under the seat that controls the rate of descent so it was wide open. The 3 pt with the tree planter fell like a rock jolting the tractor and 3 point hydaulics and , PRESTO, everything worked fine. I surmise I jolted some debri loose. Worth a try if it happens again. Kind of a poor mans flush.

That adjustment knob which controls the rate the 3PH drops was stuck open on my Kubota when it was delivered. The dealer sent a tech to fix it, I think they just took a pair of pliers and gave it a good twist. I didn't want to be the one who twisted it off.

I do think it is something internal in a valve. The dealer is working on it now and I kind of hope they find something when they drain the oil, but I kind of hope too that there isn't anything floating around in there that could have caused some other problems.

My control knob often vibrates to a closed position when I brush cut. Then I cant lower the 3ph. This confused me for a very long time before I figured out what was going on....... I also had a situation where my 3ph wouldn lift. It turned out to be a combination of a hydraulic leak, too much mm mower weight + 3ph weight, and priority being given to the loader.
