There are anti-sway (lateral control and positioning) things beside each of the lower arms of the 3PH. There are pins on keeper chains to place in joles or slots to adjust the position of the implement on the 3PH. They do not carry weight but do take side to side loads. I have had bolts integral to their construction wear out. Currently the one on the right side is missing as it must hage broken a bolt and falen off.

I only have 350 hours on this tractor. Isn't that a bit premature for multiple failures of the 3PH parts? Should I conlsider these things like shear pins and not beef them up or is it OK to make them a lot stronger? One consideration is that if they are no longer the weak link then something else is. Maybe the "something else" shouldn't be overloaded.

Ideas?

Patrick, I have never been a big fan of that set up on the 3ph linkage. I know most guys love it because it's easier when hooking up implements, however that system can't take all the slack out of the side to side movement when operating and will eventually cause problems. Alot of commercial guys were coming in with major linkage damage when these first came out. My solution was to retrofit the old grand L turnbuckle system to the new tractors. Now they weren't all happy with what it cost to do this on there new machines with the new and improved linkage, but it did cure the problem. Most guys don't run their machines as hard and as long as the commercial guys, they never see the problem. But in some applications this is what will happen. The tighter you can get those links the better, sometimes it helps if you can side load the implement till the pin drops in. I don't suggest improving the hardness of the hardware as those are the most inexpensive parts of the system. Bent arms, or worse yet, damaging the attach point at the drive axle/rops area is going to be expensive.

man you can say that again!!! I have a John Deere and been having a night mare with the right turnbuckle breaking. Turns out, that because of the spacing on the box blade, I wasn't able to get these tight. I asked the dealer about it and he offered no assistance. Lo and Behold!!! I broke the ears off the axle housing!!! About 400-450 dollars later , Me doin the work,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,its fixed. I wish I had seen this post much earlier. I jus rehooked up the Box blade, and noticed some twisting. It seems if I can get these stabilizers tighter, it may correct this problem. Thats one expensive lesson!!!,,,gott /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The system that Kubota uses is fine and easy to hook up, but you are right, it will not take a prolonged lateral load without something breaking, probably an attachment bolt or pin. I believe the M series uses turnbuckles. That's more of a ground engaging unit.

Most of the time, I remove my lift arms and linkage as I do hay with my 5030 so I don't need the 3 point. All my implements pull on the drawbar. Removing the lift arms allows me a tighter turning radius without running a lift arm into the tongue of an implement.

What do you keep on your 3PH? Sounds like you have extreme lateral loads given the break in your draw bar and the breakage of the sway link bolts.

Things shouldn't be breaking like that.
