3PH Stabilizer Turnbuckles VERY Difficult to Turn

Might check with your JD dealer parts guy and see if there's some offered that would fit your tractor if you don't have the resources to build your own.

My L3400 had turnbuckles. The MX5100 hads telescoping ones.

Both have pros and cons. For alot of things I do like the telescoping kind, allthough there is no way to get all slop out like there is with the turnbuckles. With that heavy 1600# mower I have on the back, the ~1"-2" bit of slop that the stabilizers leave.....bend and wear out my lynch pins in a hurry. I may try to come up wit a way to take the residual slop out of the telescoping ones. Add a threaded end on one of them???

On the little JD it's no problem. On the Ford and Kubota I have a plan. I pin one to center the attachment where I want it. Then, while carrying the attachment on the 3pt, I lean on it and move it one direction or the other until the "slop" is taken up and then hope for a pin hole on the other side. If I don't get what I want pushing it one direction, I try the other. I can usually pin an attachment very snug using that method.

Must just be the pin spacing on the mower, because I have tried that and about an inch side to side is as best I can get. Which is still too much IMO. 1" allows 1600# to get up quite a bit of inertia
