Hey all.
I've seen lots of styles of storage boxes attached to carry all frames .
All I want to carry is a couple extra fuel cans and a cold drink cooler - nothing heavy.
Can I just build a wood box to attach directly to the 3PH, with no welding or big expense involved ? Any ideas??

A cheap carry all frame will hold about 500lb. Add a cheap pallet and some sides and you're set.

Sounds like you want a design like a ballast box, with no ballast.

If you're needing a cheap light pallet and there is a sears outlet center near you they're usually happy if you want to have some of the pallets they get the equipment on. Not heavy duty, but would work for this purpose.

Just make a box to the dimensions of your choice and attach it to the 3 pt lower arms via some U-bolts and wing nuts. Voila!
Is that what you had in mind?

oddballs and bcp you're in the right ballpark, but since starting this thread I've found some old bed frames.
I think I'll try to build (weld) my own carryall then fit
2X6's to it to the size I want. I reckon this is the better way, but I have little experience welding.
Guess I'll get some 'seat time' there too. I'll try to post pics as I try to accomplish this task. DON"T LAUGH!

Well, got started on the carryall build today. Got my plans done and the basic welded frame done. Still need to weld on some kind of bolts or pipes or something to hook to the lower pt arms and a bracket for the upper arm. May still add more frame to put a front on it, like a ballast box so stuff won't go bouncing out. Then just need to add the the wood, some paint - maybe orange to match - then should be done. Here's the pics so far..... Should work fine for my needs. Will follow up with more pics as I continue.

If you can't baffle 'em with brilliance, dazzle 'em with :censored:!

I welded on 2 & 1/4" of 3/4" galvinized pipe on each side for the lower arms today.
Wifey goes visiting her folks tomorrow so hope I'll get time to make up and weld on the upper arm bracket.
Then, at least, I can attach it to the 3ph and see if this dog'll hunt. I'll put up more pics later.
Thanks for the words of encouragement oddballs!

If I don't get back soon --Merry Christmas!!

Finished the frame - still need to paint then cut and install the wood. Put it on the 3PH & rode around finding every pothole I could and this dog hunts!
Not the best looking welds, but they won't break! Here's more pics.... The front of the box'll be 12" high and I plan to use 3/4 plywood for the sides. More later.
