Tractor
Rural King Foton 404
Hello.

I have the Foton 404 (Rural King) tractor that is out of warranty now. I do not have a BH or FEL.

My problem is that the 3ph will not lower on its own when there is no attachment on it. Instead, the 3ph raises to the top position even when I lower the 3ph controls all the way down. When I have an attachment (such as a bush hog, rear blade, pallet mover), the 3ph works great--raises and lowers fine.

In order for me to connect attachments, I have to lower the controls, then push down the 3ph arms manually and connect attachments before the 3ph arms raise again. It's kind of annoying, to say the least.

Any ideas of what I should be looking for to correct this problem?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like whatever they are using for a control valve ( ford uses an unloading type valve for instance ) is leaking and letting fluid divert to the lift cyl. Depending on what method they use.. it may be an intike valve problem and or exhaust valve problem. however.. if the implement lowers fine with weight.. I'd discount the exhaust valve problem, and focus on oil diversion to the cyl possibly thry a leaky spool.. Not sure if those spools are metal to meatl.. or if they use orings ( and can be resealed.. etc.. )

Rob,
I've had that happen on my Kama when I first got it. I always had to push the 3pt down and occasionally it would want to raise like yours. For whatever reason, it stopped raising, but without anything on it, I have to stand on the lower drag links for them to go down.

Since I put side tilt cylinders on both sides, I now use them to lower or position the drag links for hook ups. I think Soundguy is on the right track, though.

Rob, is this somthing that just started when it got real cold outside. Is it kept out side. If so try putting it sonewhere to warm up it may have some ice in the control valve.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll look into the suggestions by Soundguy. Also, I do store it in a barn and it occurs even when it's warm out.

Finally, it is a Chinese tractor and will take the suggestion of posting also in the Chinese tractor forum.

I appreciate your suggestions and really enjoy this site. I've learned a lot from it!
