Boy.. TBN seems to be running slow. I couldn't get on saturday, and even now.. it is minutes before operations load.. etc.

Anyway. Here is a quick and dirty 3pt weight I made. The tub held 6 bags of concrete, and is bolted to a cat 1 drawbar, with long carriage bolts. The carriage bolts protrude about 5" up into the tub. I used a ford stabilizer bar, vut in half as the toplink connection. I'm estimating that it weights 600# or so. I also have a couple suitcase weights @ 50# each I can throw on if I need to. The tub is leftover from some cattle protien supplements you set out in the field. The drawbar and stabilizer bar were surplus.. so the only real cost was for the cement.. and a few carriage bolts and nuts/washers.. etc.

The drawbar can be recovered if I ever ditch the weight by dropping a few nuts off the bottom of the carriage bolt ends at the bottom.

Works great as a counterweight for my ford 660 and 1 arm loader..

Hey SouNdguy,
I checked it out over on the "N" series website. I think I'm gonna try to make me one like you did. What is the tub made out of?? Would a plastic one work or do you think it needs to metal? BTW, I made & installed the altenator pulley on my 2N that you came up with. It works great. Thanks for the ideas. You should post the 3 point weight in Farm Show Magazine. That magazine is great, and full of stuff that smart folks like yourself come up with.

Yeah, that's a pretty good idea. I made one a few years ago after I saw someone else's version. I haven't used it much since my tires are loaded on the new tractor, but it's still there just in case.
I welded the pins to a piece of rebar that passes all the way through and the toplink attachment was a "U" shaped piece of flatbar I found in the barn I used to have. It goes all the way down to the bottom of the tub on an angle, so I think it adds strength. The concrete was left over from the pad I had poured.

I used a plastic tub. It was leftover tub that held solid cattle feed suppliment. 3.5-4 bushel I would guess.

Glad the idler pulley worked. I like the look of it.. and mine works great as well.

Soundguy,

We had made a similar rear ballast weight for a Ford 860 we run. One addition we made was to install a set of check chains so the weight could be shared by both the top link mount and the 3pt arms.

I've got check chains if I need them.
