I have a 5' 3pt hitch finish mower on my kubota, the mower is probably a late 70s mower made by Kubota, It does not have front gauge wheels, just skids with rear wheels,my question is can you add front wheels to this mower to prevent scalping, which it does pretty bad. My next question does anyone know who made this mower for Kubota, I was told it was a made by woods. The mower works well other than scalping.

I have not seen any "factory" wheels to add to mowers like that. You would probably have to fabricate something like that. I'm sure that there are many on the board that could help. Can you post a pic of the mower?

Home depot sells many rollers and wheels, and deck wheels for mowers. You may be able to weld up a bracket and coble something up. Home depot also sells nylon bushings that will fit most of the wheels, over in the hardware section.

Jim, don't bother with the wheels unless you have already installed "check" chains. I'll have to post a photo to more accurately describe what I'm talking about, however, suffice to say the chains hold the mower (or brush hog) front up so there is rarely ever any scalping. Essentially the mower front floats with the rear wheels of the tractor.
