Ok, nothing I have ever run had a 3pt float. Unless you count the right forarm.

Any tips on how this is supposed to work?? I think that it is either putting weight on the implement or letting it "float" like a adjustable preformance suspension.

Ok, I can live with that. Which is which?? Fwd is hard? Soft?

Went through the book, not sure what I read.

Really wondering if it would help back bladeing snow without taking off the stone.

If you will stand behind your tractor with the lift down and lift both of the the lower lift arms by hand, they will come up. That is float and that is how they react if you have an implement that doesn't cut the ground like a moldboard plow.

So, what a adjustable float is is a way to put down pressure on the 3pt, correct?

It's not so much down pressure as it is resistance to push-back from the implement. If you turn it up it will resist the push from plows or a tiller trying to push back out of the ground.

I wasn't 100% right in my description. Here's a link to a pretty good explanation.

btw: my 4110 manual has a typo in it. It says "moving the lever forward will decrease draft and moving lever backwards will decrease draft"

The only new tractor that I know of that has down pressure is the Belarus.

Varmintmist,
From what you are discribing, I think you must be talking about your draft control on your 3510. The draft control doesn't give your 3ph any down pressure it only regulates how far down the 3ph will drop to the bottom of its float. When you are plowing with a mould board plow the plows will pull themselves down into the ground until you hit the bottom of your 3ph float, set by your position control. The draft control setting will sense the pressure on the plows, and when you crest over a hill and your plows start to pull up out of the ground the pressure on the top link will decrease and the draft control will adjust the bottom travel of your float and allow the plows to go deeper in the ground. When you've crested the hill the toplink will sense the increased pressure and will raise the bottom travel of your float till your plows reach the desired depth. I know this is kind of complicated and I hope I have explained it well enough. I don't know of any tractors made that have down pressure on the 3ph.
For your back blade problem, adjust the length of your top link to try to get your cutting edge to dig in a little better. other than that, all you can do is add weight to it. I hope I have been some help you.

Thats what I was looking for.

I dont have a BB problem. Just trying to refine the use. I have the top link sucked in till the blade is pretty square against the ground so that it wont dig, just scrape. At about 250 a triaxel load, I want to keep the stone I have. I also stuck some spare metal on behind the cutting edge for skid shoes. Seems to work ok. By changing the top link, I can change the amount of gap between the cutting edge and the ground. I have it to where I leave about 1/4 in or so of snow. I still pick up some stone, but just the high spots. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was just wondering if the draft control would be usable with a BB clearing snow. Seems the answer is maybe. It there is enough pressure on the 3 pt, the draft control will try to follow the contour of the ground more or less. The only thing is you really dont want to much weight or you will be rolling stone with the snow.

Something to play with.

Only thing I ever plowed on was a JDA (once), a 10 hp wheel horse (a lot), and my JD850 once for a dinky garden, and from the smelly end of 2 belgians /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Draft control was done by hand on all of them. I used a plow with the Mahindra to rip up a road, but that was mostly breaking out the big rock so I could get them with the loader. I figure on doing some more this year for food plots.

Mine says the same thing. Not a great translation job on the book.
