3-Point Hitch 3pt Hitch only up & down no in between

My 3pt hitch on my Shibaura quit working the other day /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifand I can't get it to do anything but go up and down. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif It won't stay anywhere in between. I don't have a manual, but plan on getting one if I can find one. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it an easy fix? Or do I need to start looking for parts?Thanx in advance.

A little more about your tractor will be helpful. I have a 2803 T and mine did some funny things too. I have a little box on the right side with about five knobs with Japanese writing. I starting messing with them and each did something different to the lift. Is it possible that you have "that box." Maybe Buck from EFC will be able to help you more--he has an excellent web site and he seems (like many of the others on this site) to be very knowledgable. I bought my manuals from Mr Sheaffer.

Give me your best shot! This will be easy, /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. We need to know what model it is and whether it is a mechanical three point (large arm you move up and down) or electronic three point (switch on a red box on the fender).

I will get the model tonight when I get home. I do know it is electronic, thats what scares me, I once burned up a perfictly good Sportster in the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel because I did the wire'n on the bike. But that was a long time ago.

It's a SL1543 It has knobs on the fender that I never investigated also. I guess I would like to know what they are for and get them to work to.

It's pretty easy to bypass that stuff and wire your 3pt control solenoid to a toggle switch. Buck at EFC saved me on that one. I've rewired several now with dead centering toggles and they work great! Thanks again Buck! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I had a SL1643 Shibaura on loan for a while & when I first used it, the hitch would drop like a rock. There is a round knob under the seat area which controls the rate of drop, maybe that is contributing to your problem? The drift controls on the fender were inoperable on my unit so I can't help you there.
