Hey folks I have a quick question, it may seem simple but I just want to know if its OK if I do this.

I got the 6' brush hog for my New Holland TC40, and when I hook it up its a little hard. The arms I have to push out as far as I can to get them in the pins, to the point where they almost hit the tires because the mower mount is so wide. Here is my idea to fix this but I want to make sure its OK, Can I put the pins to the inside of the frame as opposed to the outside where they are now? This would make it a lot easier to hook up. Is it to move the pins?

Thanks for any input,
Jason

Yep, it can be done. Some attachments even come with the pins on the inside.

Another solution is to use a Pat's Quick Connect.

Yes, go ahead. This reversing the pins in is common on Rotary Cutters. I have the pins "in" on my King Kutter Rotary Mower. No difference in use, just easier to mount on the three point hitch.

A quick hitch will also make life easier, Ive seen them at HarborFreight for $80. Norhtern tool around $100.

That's what I did on my KK tiller. I haven't experienced any compromise in stability or strength.

Those type of quick hitches require that the implement have exact measurements in order to fit the exact measurements of the quick hitch frame.

That is not the case as explained by the OP. Turning the pins to the inward side MIGHT make them fit the QH frame. Very iffy.

A lot of the 3pt implements were designed to where you would point the pins towards the middle for category I hitches & to the outside for category II.

I flipped the pins and it works great! I mowed for about 2 hours tonite! A lot easier to hook up and unhook! Thanks for the advice!
