I am looking for a little advice. I posted this in the JD forum as well. I have a 2302R with 9.3 GPM at the power beyond less 4 for the steering so effectively 5GPM. Is it worth putting a open center hydraulic valve to run my old Speeco 3PT lot splitter with the 4" cylinder / 2" ram with 36" stroke? The stroke is adjustable because I can move the push plate closer but I am concerned about cycle time.

Thanks in advance

It would be slower than Christmas. I’m guessing 30-40 seconds but I haven’t calculated it. I’d recommend a different approach.

It might work OK depending on your expectations.I assume you have a 2032R. I have a JD 2320 with a 3 point splitter. My tractor has 3.4 gpm available and I'm satisfied with my splitter. However, it is better matched to my tractor because it is the now discontinued Powerhorse dual splitter with a 3 inch cylinder (13 ton). I have about a 10 second stroke so with your greater flow but larger cylinder, you shouldn't be much slower. I don't let the stroke time bother me because it's a two way splitter, so there is no return stroke.

I am using a Speeco splitter on a N.H. TC21D with just over 5 GPM flow. It isn稚 a rocket ship, but I have adapted my splitting/stacking to match the speed of the splitter. It actually works out for me, YMMV.

It's going to be on the slow side, but it will still have full power...

I'd try it first, to see if you are happy with it...

Well thank you all for responding I only have about $300 into the cylinder and I beam so a valve and hoses shouldn't be too expensive. My TW5 has spoiled me but I do not need that beast anymore.

Looking for some guidance.

I am wanting to add a 3PT log splitter. NH TC33D I do have a a FEL but no rear remotes. The log splitter has its own valve. I just need to give it hydraulic pressure.
How do I tap into my hydraulic system and use the valve on the log splitter?

I had a splitter set up to run off my single stage backhoe pump and found that it wasn't very effective that way behind my Kubota, as it was constantly bogging down and sticking into the wood. Behind my 8N it worked great though. I don't remember the exact reason but it had something to do with the delay when power was needed.
Since you're going to be buying a pump and tank anyways, have you considered adding an engine and making it a free standing unit? that was the other fault with the 3 pth attachment until I got the 8N... sometimes it's nice to use the loader for lifting larger logs. (Or in my case the bucket is my wheelbarrow, and I can drive it right to my wood shed.)

The simple approach is to hook the splitter to a set of loader connections and then hold the loader valve open with a bungee cord or similar. Otherwise, you will have to explore the hydraulic system and find where rear remotes would tap in.
