I am looking for a <100 gal 3pt broadcast sprayer for weed control around trees. I have an applicators license and need to nip the grassburs around the trees. Commercial sprayers do the main hay field, but can't get in the scattered tree areas (large boom). Looking at the Ag Meir Continental MQH55PL-6RA spray rig. All comments on this rig or other suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, SB

I bought that Ag Meir sprayer (55 gallon) in early summer and have used it for both broadcast spraying and spot spraying (with the spray gun).

The sprayer has three nozzles for broadcast spraying - left, center, and right - that can can be controlled separately. I found this useful when I wanted to spray in only one direction (e.g. along ditches).

The end nozzles extend a short distance beyond the tank and can be broken if you hit something when maneuvering in tight quarters.:eek: On the bright side, the parts guy did tell me that I was not the first to have broken a nozzle.:)

I fashioned a scabbard for the spray gun using a length of PVC pipe and two u-bolts. The holes for the u-bolts were already drilled in the frame, so a scabbard may be a factory option.

I did have to tighten several of the hose clamps when I first used the sprayer, but otherwise it has been trouble free.

Bottom line -- I've been satisfied with the sprayer.

SB;

I have a 10 year old Ag Meir 55 gallon with 5 nozzles on boom and a gun sprayer on it as well. It works very well but, the PTO pump is the key component for success.

I'm curious as what you are spraying on your grass burrs? We have a bumper crop of them in a few areas.

Rick, Here's a good article to read. I'm going to try a pre-emerge product, most likely in Feb.
