A reverse rotation tiller works best in rocky soil as it digs them up instead of jumping over them

I'm also looking to purchase a tiller. Everything attachments has a 60" gear drive King Kutter for 1800 buck and they will ship for free within 1000 miles.
I assume you save the tax as well.

I think on your machine you would be looking at a 72" to cover the track width on the machine. On a 60" you would need to be able to offset.

Good Luck,
Chris

I just went through the same search and ended up with an Ansung (Terraforce) YJR074. I can highly recommend it. Look for my other posts for other information

Gear drive, slip clutch, Forward spin my preferences.

Have heard more than once of a reverse spin tiller tilling into "something" and instead of bouncing up and over it wants to go down and deeper. Not that I have hooked roots and jammed rocks up in my battle proven forward spin maletti and made the slip clutch work a little......

When I was on the hunt for a NEW tiller, I kinda still is, kept ending up at the KK 60". The Tarter 60" was second.

SPO307 - with your PTO HP you could easily handle over a 6 ft tiller, possibly up to an 80 inch. You need to have a tilling width slightly wider than your tire tracks. Here is the link to my thread when I was looking. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/bobcat-tractors/262171-ct235-tiller-capabilities.html

Note the links in my last post to get an idea on what I have and a good source for mine and others.

I found mine used through an agg dealer that had it in their rental inventory . It was barely used as they only rented it out to 50 HP tractor folks, however my CT 235 easily manages it. The folks in the rental department were and excellent source of information as they had used several brands before settling on the Ansung. He allowed me to try before I bought.

One thing to consider is construction and weight, especially if you plan to use it a lot. Also the number and construction of the tines (6 per flange is better than 4). L shaped do better than the hook style in my humble opinion. My Ansung is fabricated from plate steel with a wet lower ball bearing on the tiller shaft - most other brands are a grease Zerk and bearing sleeve. Look at welds, fabrication, and paint - not all tillers are created equal. Last thing I took into consideration being an engineer is how the center gear box is mounted. Some are just bolted to the stamped tiller box with the power shaft to one side.- to me a weak point. I only considered tillers that the center gear box was mounted to a full width torque tube that runs the total width of the tiller

The other thing to check out is parts availability and costs of replacement tines - there is a huge difference between brands. Happy hunting
