Hi guys I built a log splitter to run on the back of our tractor this past winter. I used a log splitter valve with kick off, I think this was the one, I can't find numbers any more
Directional Control Valve with Kick-Off | Princess Auto
When I built it and tested it, worked perfect, kicking off on return. This fall as soon as I started it up, it wouldn't kick off, and when the valve hit either end it would cause the tractor hydraulics to go into relief and squeal. I split a few cords just being careful. 2 questions:
1) Why doesn't the tractor go into relief when I stop it at any other position than the ends of the cylinder (and is this hard on the tractor) and
2) Should I pull it apart and see if there's a bit of grit in it causing it to not kickoff properly or is there too much flow or something now that I was revving it a bit, I think I may have tested it only at idle.
