4 acres of gravel...what to use

My wife and I are looking at a 4 acre plot made up of mostly gravel with rocks in the dia of 1" to 3". I need to decide what will be the best way to break this ground up. I have a JD2210, box blade, FEL, rear blade, and landscape rake. Hope this stuff will work to break up and level. I still need to build a tooth bar for the FEL.

Any comments?

If your box blade has teeth (rippers) on it then I would think that would work.

But, as in your last thread about putting in the drive, I think you will find the Deere 2210 a bit on the "light" side. You can do it, but you will have a lot of seat time.

A 4' harley rake (power rake) is what I would have in mind if I was to tackle the work that you describe. Not sure if the 2210 will handle that or not. But you will be making far fewer passes to work out the rocks with the power rake.

Will admit, do not have a good picture or feeling what you really have in mind to do. But from your description, I would be thinking of some heavier equipment to get the job "done" (unless time is not a problem for you /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif).

Actually time is not a problem. You know I thought I had posted something to this effect before but couldn't find it. I did get the box blade, landscape rake and back blade yesterday. Once we settle on the property I will keep everyone posted on the projects. We spent most of the day today at a log home show and just got home. Not much time to test out the new toys....er uhhhh...I mean machine and implements..))
