Kubota B7100
Me again with another newbie question. Will my B7100 handle a 4' box blade? I assumed it would but my neighbor said my tractor was too small for it to do any good. Now he is one of those "bigger is always better" and doesn't think much about my Kubota anyway. Thought I would throw it out for the experts and see what they thought. Thanks for all the knowledge.

Not too sure about the box blade but just give a little insight into the "little bulls" abilities.... I recently did some levelling on my brothers property. My b7100 really impressed us. To grade the soil, we used an 8ft X 4ft heavy shipping pallet with a pile of cement blocks stacked on it, I recon about 300lb of deadweight loaded on the pallet. I simply hooked a chain onto the pallet and dragged the pallet around in 4wd. There were several 4ft skids under the pallet that were perpendicular to the direction of travel, and they were basically cutting the high spots and filling the low spots. The pallet really gathered a lot of soil but did a great job of levelling. The kubota did a great job too, turf tires and all...
I'm sure the 4ft boxblade will be a cool tool, Let me know how it goes for you 'cos I'd like to get myself a 4ft BB for my bota eventually.

What kind of BB are you thinking of getting?

A 4' from Tractor Supply, or a used one if I can find one local.

Sounds like your B7100 did well with its job. I have some of my yard (minus grass!) that needs drug. Sounds like your drage system may fit the bill. I have plenty of available pallets here at work.

I regurally use a 7' blade (not a box) on the back of my B7100 for snow and dirt. I can pull a full load of soil with the 7' blade as long as I go slow. I've also used the neighbors 6' box blade once on the back of my 7100. The heavy duty 6' is was a little heavy (couldn't always get the 3 point to lift it), I wasn't able to fill it all the way up like we do with the neighbors L series and I had to go slow but I was able to level a fairly large area just fine. If I can make do with a large 6' box I'm sure it would handle a 4' just fine. I'd even consider one a little wider then 4' if I could get a good deal on it.

I know the 7100 only have 16 hp but those are some might strong horses. The machine is geared well and does things well beyond what anyone who's used to larger machines would expect it to do.

A 4' BB would be just fine for your 7100, I would fill the rear tires to aid in traction.

I used a 4' BB behind a B7500 21hp, It did well for the three years I used it.

I use a 4 foot BB on my B7100 with no problem. You'll run out of traction before you run out of HP. I had a small (60' diameter) pond dug and used the BB and FEL to move all the dirt from the pond to form berms, with no trouble.

Lg Mouth; You will have no problem using a 4ft box blade and best of all,it will cover your tracks.I use the same size behind my B4200(12.5hp/2cyl.)and have been amazed at what it can do.I like your pallet idea, never though of that one.

My first Kubota was a 7100 that I got in a trade from a guy that was quitting the landscaping business. It came with a 6 ft.,home made b.b. and jury rigged dual wheels, that were water filled. It served me well for 3 or 4 years.I didnt know any better and worked it just like it was supposed to have that big contraption behind it.That little tractor is amazing,it's only limited by your imagination.I think you could work 2 -4 footers if you could figure out how to rig them.

Great! Well, guess I will be looking for a BB in the near future. Can't wait until the weather dries so I can get the tractor out and do some playing around.

Thanks for the replies. All the help I can get is much appreciated.
