is a Kubota 7800 big enough to handle a 4 in 1 bucket or is it to small?

I would say that the 7800 is borderline. Four-in-One buckets are slick, however. What model loader do you have, the LA402?

I'd say the B7800/LA402 combo would be just fine for a light duty 4n1. Just don't plan on lifting any half ton boulders. For all purpose uses as a 4n1 there should be no issue.

I have a 60 inch WRLong 4n1 I picked up used and had modified for a universal skid steer mount. Works well and is much more useful than a standard bucket except for moving large amounts of material. I find I do use the clamp/grapple function but it is nowhere near as efficient as a true grapple. The dozer blade is quite useful and I also like being able to load the bucket by clamping rather than scooping. It is overall a useful bucket and I don't use my standard bucket.

Haven't bought the tractor yet but i really like the b7800. Wanted to make sure the 4in1 would work ok first. one dealer said i might be disappointed with
it and suggested getting a bigger tractor.

thanks for your info.

WR Long makes some relatively light weight 4in1 buckets. I have been considering one for my B3030. When I purchased my RBG2 grapple last year the 60" 4in1 ran around $1500 but I don't know what the pricing is like now. I was told I needed to order a 60" to get a skid steer q/a type mount, the 54" model would not be wide enough for them to weld on the q/a. That was according to Nelson Long. If you want to do a pin type mount instead of q/a mount then you could go with the 54" and save some weight.

What would I have to add to my tractor to use one of these 4in1 buckets?
I have a backhoe on the tractor too. Could I slave the hydralics off of those couplers?
Thanks
Patrick

Yes, if you have a set of rear remotes then you could use those to control the 4n1 or grapple. If you just have a power beyond set up then it would not work and you'd either need a set of remotes or a diverter valve for your FEL circuit.

What is a "power beyond setup"?

There is a manifold that the FEL feeds from, and it has a hook-up that has to be changed around when I put the BH on, vs the FEL.
I don't really have a "remote" hydraulic hookup so to speak.
Thanks,
Patrick

I believe the lift capacities of the LA402 are greatly under rated.

I recently picked up (with the FEL) a 800lb backhoe with a 230lb operator and i was using a 100lb skid steer qa adapter on my B7800 LA402 (with counter weight). I really didn't think I was gonna be able to lift it, but I did w/o any real struggle. I think the La402 could easily lift 1300-1500lbs when they report only 1000 lb capacity, much closer to what they list as breakout force.

What all this means, is unless you need to dump a load at full height, like over the side of a pickup or dump truck, you could probably run a 300-500 lb 4n1 and still have 1000lbs of lift capacity.

You are describing a power beyond circuit. You cannot use that directly as there is no way to control it (the BH has its own controls but a 4n1 does not).

You need to either install a set of rear remotes or get a diverter valve kit. Search on those topics and installation. Neither is beyond the capabilities of someone with basic tools and ability to read directions.
