I've noticed that when I am in mud that when I place my TC33 into 4 wheel drive that both the front tires don't spin or when pushing something one tire will spin and the other doesn't seem to kick in. When putting the unit into 4 wheel drive I push the clutch in and put the handle foreword. I don't notice any clicks or anything really different when I push the handle foreword and then let the clutch out. Just doesn't seem like anything happens. Is there any settings or test to see if the 4 wheeling is working as it is suppose to be?

Thanks

If you are spinning 1 front tire the 4WD is working. There is a differential in the front just like the rear that normally only power is applied to the tire with the least resistance. In the rear you have the diff lock that will lock both tires together, unfortunately the front doesn't have that. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif 4WD is really incorrect. More correctly it is true 2WD. In a typcial 2WD truck you are lucky if one rear tire will pull. 4WD gets you one front and one rear - Unless you have lockers like on the rear of your tractor. The rock crawling trucks and stuff that you see will typically run air lockers in the front and rear to give them true 4wd. In a true 4wd system you will find that it is very difficult - if not impossible to turn - and VERY, VERY easy to break something. Hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm probably missing something here . But that seems normal to me . On the front you have what is called an open differential . The wheel with the least traction will spin .
For the most part the rear diff is the same (unless you lock it with the pedal ) . If both front and ,or rear diffs. were locking types ,you would have great traction in a straight line . But you'd really suffer when turning . Anywaythats my take on it .
all the best , John

Hey, at least we were consistent and said the exact same thing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif That doesn't happen very often. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm not sure about this, but if you've got a DA, seems like I remember the 29/33 size having a "traction" control where the power is transferred to those tires not spinning...could be wrong, but I was on a 29DA recently and I seem to remember the salesman saying something about that???

That's the Sensitrak feature that comes with SuperSteer.

I've got Detroit lockers in both ends of my Jeep, steers fine in 4WD. Wonder if they make one for a CUT?

BeeFarmer I am sure that you are aware Sensitrak is a part of your SS option. You should never really need to place the 4WD lever in the lock position as it will take place automatically whenever needed. It's so fast and so smooth that you won't even be aware that the transition is taking place.

I noticed the other day that while grooming my gravel drive I was having a bit of a problem in a sharp turn with the front wheels digging into the gravel and looked over to see that my son had indeed locked my TC-40D in manual 4WD. Since I never use the lever myself I returned it to the automatic position and all was well. In a normal steep turn Sensitrak shuts off the 4WD so that you don't damage the turf or put a bind on the SS drive-train. This all takes place from the normal or automatic position for the 4WD lever.
