Not sure, But in my opinion a tractor is crippled without 4 wheel drive.

The current models are designated by B or B(X). X = 4 Wheel drive.....

Not quite correct.

All the BX series (sub CUTS) are 4wd. The X does not stand for 4wd but stands for sub CUT.

All of the B series are 4wd except for the B2410HSE which is 2wd and I believe out of production.

Actually, the BX series is smaller than the B series, and is considered a SubCUT line, while the B series is a CUT line. It appears that all of the BX's and almost all of the B's are 4WD. The only exception that I could find on the Kubota web site is the B2410, which is available in 2WD. Click on through to the Specification pages for detailed information on each model.

edit: Yeah - what Mad said! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Depends on what your intended use is. With a small tractor, FWA (front wheel assist) is a plus as it compensates for the lower tractive effort but in larger, heavier units FWA is not always needed or wanted.

Exactly. I have no use for a 4x2 tractor, but in many cases 4x4 is a hindrance. Best example is when a tractor is used as a "tow-motor" like at a boat showroom where a tractor is used to push/pull boats into a warehouse. Another would be a golf course where in some cases it's better to have wide, slick tires that actually spin on the grass rather than dig up precious turfgrass.

There is a great little lever that disengages the front assist when it's not wanted. It comes standard on all 4WD tractors. Problem solved. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I leave my BX in 2wd till I need 4wd....I should rethink this, because most of my work requires it to be in 4wd with the industrial tires. That handy little lever does come in handy! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif as does the differential lock!

Snal~
