i have a friend that drives for a pretty big trucking company, today he told me two things that surprised me. the trucking company only allows the drivers to go 62 mph, on interstate highways, for insurance and fuel milage reasons; plus he says the truck he drives just turned over 570,000 miles, and the company only changes oil every 40,000 miles??? he also says the truck he drives doesn't use any oil??? do ya reckon he's pulling my leg???????????????

Oops. Thanks! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'm using the Delvac 1300 Super in my Kubota BX2200 by the way. I wonder if the 'extended interval' applies to a tractor, like change the oil every 200 hours instead of every 100. I am going to stick by the book but ... sure seems like you could go 200 hours (at least) with this oil.

No he is not. Some trucking companies go longer than that. But what he didn't tell you is about the by-pass filter system they more than likely use and how often the filters are changed. Still that company is saving a ton of money if they are using synthetic oil. There is a independant trucker in Virginia that went over 400,000 mile without changing the oil in his Mack.

i knew amzoil had a bypass filter system, and with oil testing, recommended longer change intervals, but didn't know anyone else was doing it.

I know several people over on the ford-diesel.com web site use bypass filters. I have considered putting one on my power stroke myself. I have also wondered if one would work well on a tractor. The bypass filter allows you to extend the oil change interval (beyond 30K in many cases) because it keeps so many contaminates out of the oil. This would be a great thing on a tractor as well, even if you don't extend your oil change interval. Anyone have anymore info?
