The dealer wanted $200 for a JD bed liner and the local spray in liners are $225 for the bed and floorboards. I just bought a 4'x6' horse stall mat at TSC which is 5/8" thick solid rubber and will cut it to fit the bed. I will lay it in the bed so it is removeable. I may take some of the leftover material and bolt it to the tailgate. The mat will give me a sturdy, removeable non skid surface. It will also be easier on the knees and legs of little kids riding in the back. Before the safety police start after me, the speed will be barely above idle for a bunch of 4-5 year olds.

I realize the side walls are still going to get scuffed, but the $40 cost seemed good. I can buy a bunch of touch up paint for the money saved.

How do you like your new XUV?
did you get gas or diesel?

I got the gas and love it so far. My dealer has one diesel unit on the showroom floor. I got mine a week ago because it was ordered as a pre-sold unit. Pre-sold orders get priority over floor stock orders.

Now I need to add a few goodies such as a winch and maybe another couple rear lights and a bigger alternator to run all the electronics. Soft doors can wait until next winter. The temps are hitting 70 in the day now.

The ride is amazingly stable and smooth with the independant rear susspension. Dropping one wheel into a 10-12" deep hole or rut does not cause the whole vehicle to tilt and bounce.

Are you looking for a fixed mount winch or a quick mount that you can use front or rear? JC

Quick mount on a plate welded to a 2" hitch shaft. This way it can be used on the front or rear 2" receiver of the XUV or even taken off and used elsewhere. I realize any place it is used will have to have wiring set up for it. From what I have read, Warn is the way to go as far as model selection and cost. I haven't pinned down any model yet, but I was hoping to get the mounting plate, 2500# winch and two wiring harnesses and a corded remore control for about $400. I am realistic with my budget??

I found the wiring and remote on gowarn.com but it says unavailable at this time. JC

I have a 2500 lb Ramsey on my RTV. But I bought a Champion on Sam's club auction for $50 plus shipping. It is only 2000lb but comes with a snatch block. You have to bid on them but some times they go really cheap. This is one listing on now.
I have no idea how good they are, haven't use it yet.Champion 2000 ATV Winch Kit - samsclub.com

Lewis,

I had the Ramsey detachable 3000 pound winch on my Gator and really liked it. You might want to check it out before committing to the Warn. It is not as fast as a Warn, but seemed stouter. I am going back with the same winch on my new XUV which I am picking up on Saturday. I hate to pick, but you have a mighty nice machine, I believe I would spring for the spray in liner and floor coating. It looks fantastic and the cost compared to the machine is really inexpensive. A $40.00 bed mat on such a nice machine that you will really use a lot is like a trailer hitch on a Ferrari, it just does not seem to fit. I feel it my civic duty to counsel you against the mat. Please remove the mat and step away from the machine, Lewis. (And give it to me--the XUV, not the mat).

I also went with the Ramsey winch for my HPX and I have no complaints. :)
