Tractor
MF 1635 , JD 3203 , JD 1070
I was thinking of buying a new tractor while the interest rate is 0 . The 5045 D is what I thought I wanted , bush hogging 10 acres or so , keeping up 3500 foot gravel road , pulling trees out etc. but it would be trailered all the time . Only need 2 wheel drive , no loader , I have a JD 3203 with loader. Just looks like you get more for your buck with the 5000 but the 4005 would be much better to haul , any thoughts would be helpful

The 5045 is a whole new breed of animals than the 4005. Just a much more capable machine. What do you have to trailer it?

I have a 3.5 ton 16 ft equipment trailer , also a 14 ft 14,000 lb trailer but its 75.5 inches betwwen fenders and may not work . If need to I would sell my 16 and buy a 18ft 10,000 lb trailer , I have a Ford 250 super duty 4x4 and a Tundra 4x4

I'd guess that the 5045D would fit between the fenders on the 14K trailer. Likely around 72 inches on the tractor tires.

Without loader and 2WD the 5045D won't be alot heavier than your 3203 with loader; maybe 6-700lbs more.

As Martian noted - the 5000 series machine is alot more tractor than the 4005. More iron in the @ss!

Would be a snug fit on that trailer. I you'd be better suited getting rid of both and getting an 18-20' 14k pound trailer. Anyway you look at it though the 5045 is just more machine. Another option could be getting the 4005, but getting 4x4 with it.

The 5045D would be a great option if you dont need 4wd. The width looks to be 70.9" with std R1 tires. One other option would be telescoping draft links that you can get on the 5045 and not the 4105. John Deere builds the 5045 engines if that matters. Keep in mind the 5045 has a category 2 hitch instead of the category 1 that the 4105 and your 3203 have. Looks like the base machine list is $16090 for the 5045 and $21155 on the 4105 both std. R1 tires no loader so definitely a good 2wd value. The 5045 has a 0% - 60 months or 72 months but JD Credit will charge the dealer 2.5% subsidy to go 72 months so expect that to be passed on to you. The 4105 has a 0% - 48 months. They will go 60 months with a 2.5% dealer subsidy or 72 months with a 5% dealer subsidy.

just a clarification I think he's talking about a 4005 not a 4105 as they are two different animals.

Thanks for the replies . Dealer told me 5045 was cat 1 and 2 , also that I would need front weight bracket and at least 4 weights . 14,995 for the base unit , never said anything about any other extra charges on finance. Never bought a new tractor , also own a 1990 JD 1070 and a 1999 JD 250 skid steer which is nothing but a money pit . I will probably go with the 5045 over the 4005 based on these replies , thanks

The standard published rate on the 5045D is 0% - 60 months. There is no dealer subsidy on that rate. I was mentioning that the dealer "can" do 0% for 72 months but they (or you) will get charged 2.5% of the finance amount. The std. rate for the 72 months is 1.9% which is still pretty good. :) (Most people wouldn't go more than 60 on that price anyway) The 4005 is right along the same lines as your 1070 (great tractor by the way) Would have to lean towards a Bobcat to replace that 250 skidsteer though
