Comparison 4005 or 5045

   / 4005 or 5045 #11
Thanks for the replies . Dealer told me 5045 was cat 1 and 2 , also that I would need front weight bracket and at least 4 weights . 14,995 for the base unit , never said anything about any other extra charges on finance. Never bought a new tractor , also own a 1990 JD 1070 and a 1999 JD 250 skid steer which is nothing but a money pit . I will probably go with the 5045 over the 4005 based on these replies , thanks

I think that the extra power/size of the 5045 would be beneficial for you. Since the you've got a 1070, the 4005 is not much larger. Get as much weight for it as you can though. Load the tires, front and back, front cast iron weights. You won't want that thing too light being a 2x4

I owned a JD 5105 for a little while. Was a good machine and very similar to the JD 5045. They both have the 2.9 engine which has been around for years. If buying new, I HIGHLY recommend opting for the largest rear tires possible, which should be the 16.9-28. I had 4 front weights and it served well to keep the front end down. I had 14.9-28 rear tires and had some wheel spin.

The 4005 is a modern 1070, they are essentially identical. Get the 5045d
