I plan on getting my third mowing season out of my 445 in 2002 and then moving up a notch or two. I will consider Kubota when the time comes but this question is specific to the Deere line (so you rabid BX'ers can wait to take your shot at my comparisons later...I promise you that opportunity).

I have been unable to find anything concrete on the 4X10 line, but for a few rumors. I would like to tap into any info you guys might have to begin my research early. If any of you esteemed denizens could compare and contrast the subject models to the best of your abilities, I would appreciate it greatly. I am pretty clear on the advantages to moving to the compact class from the GT class, so you needn't waste your keyboarding prowess on the difference between my current setup and the 4000 series. My stats/specs are:

-4 acres of fairly lush lawn + 3 acres of timber with a few trails
-200'+ double width paved driveway and parking area
-Current attachment needs and setup are front blade, 60" belly mower, PTO broadcaster, PTO sprayer, dirt scoop

-Don't see a need for a loader in the near future, but you never know...

One basic question to get things started: 1) Will the 4010 be the same size as the 4100 or smaller?

Thanks in advance for any and all knowledge and conjecture.

Pete,

I don't think there is enough information out there right now to create a good cross comparison. My dealer just wants to talk about selling go carts and JD toys for Christmas this week. He has been primed but doesn't want to make comparisons yet. I think he figures he will get beaten up on the price of the four 4100s he has on the lot if his customers know too much about the next generation 4X10s. FWIW, I hear the 4010 will be a little smaller in stature than the 4100 but will be a little more attactive to non-commercial users (read estate users) because of its size and some user-frindly controls. I'm watching, too. I sold my BX last year for a 455. It was a money thing, A great deal on the 455 and a great offer on the BX. I don't "need" 4WD or a loader now but I wish I had the full Cat 1 3PH. The BX's 3PH is a stretch for that category. The spread of the arms and weight capacity is almost identical to the 400 series cat 0.

4110 is a newer 4100, and that is it, a few slight changes but JD PR told me this directly. 4115, same thing but more horsepower.
