deerefan,
Where do youlive in La. I grew up in NOLA and spent alot of time in the coastal areas.

Post some pics of the 5020 when you get it. I figure the new clutch and rear tires would be most of that $7k.:D

I live in a small community (norwood) 50 miles north of baton rouge. You are correct, the clutch cost him almost 5k at the local dealer in centreville mississippi. I have always liked the 20 series, real tuff tractors, darn near bulletproof.

When I lived outside McComb, MS is where I had a 4020 and 3020 diesels they were great tractors. Also had a friend who lived near Centerwille who was an excellent tractor mechanic, John Clark. He was electrocuted while working on his home AC condenser, 39 years old, 5 kids and a wife. Real tradgedy.

I believe he worked on the 5020 I am buying years ago when the original owner had it. Story seems familiar to me. Good tractor mechanics, especially on the old machines, are few and far between. I bring mine, for major repairs, to Richland Equipment right out side Centreville.

I also grew up in nola. We had an orange farm in plaquemines parish (braithwaite) and I went to Br. Martin high school. Actually lived in Metairie until my parents simply could not take the city life any longer (they were both raised on farms) and moved to a nice piece of property on the northshore. They told me they lived in the city so I could get a good education. It never ceases to amaze me the sacrifices they made to ensure I had the best of everything.

I worked with Big Joe Franicevich in Buras many summers fishing oysters, loved to go fishing down there. Went to Fortier worked a few more years and went to Tulane. Then moved to a more scenic location, Ruidoso NM.

I believe my grandfather knew him well. I will verify and let you know. You are right about more scenic...unless you like levees, flatland and potholes!! I will say this, behind our place in braithwaite, there was an absolutely beautiful swamp/marsh, full of mature cypress, water and live oaks covered in moss. If you weren't careful, you would get lost there quick.

I was helping a friend do some work on a 4020 they bought, and in removal of a panel, we bumped the transmission disconnect lever, and no matter what we try, we cannot get it to reengage...anybody got any ideas?

Thanks in advance
