4035 and tiller

Was wondering if anyone is running the 6 foot Mahindra/Kodiak rototiller behind a 4035.

Was trying to get mine hooked up the other day and it appears the PTO shaft is about 4 inches too long.

I do not want to get into cutting the shaft if I do not have to, so was wondering if I am doing something wrong.

No expertise with your tiller here, but too long a PTO shaft is probably a common thing. The manufacturer probably makes them for different situations, and knows that the user can cut it down [ with proper clearance ] to fit. Too short, is bad.... Good luck, Jerry....

It's not difficult to cut a shaft down, can be done with a hacksaw by hand if no power tools are available to you. Be sure to measure twice (or 3 or 4 times even) and cut once !!! Of course you'll be cutting the two pieces independantly, be sure to think it out good so you'll have the play in it to extend and collapse properly. De-burr with a file.

Decided to go another route. Was reading the Pats Easy Change hitch added 3 to 4 inches to the 3 point hitch, so bought one figuring I could always cut the shaft if needed.

Added the Pats hitches this past weekend and the tiller hooked up perfectly.

Really going to love this tiller too, going to make putting in a garden and food plots next spring a breeze.
