4035 Hydraulic Top Link

Anyone ever install a hydraulic top link on a 4035. I can't find one that is close enough to the throw of the existing manual link which is around 19"-31". Or would it matter; with my shredder I'm probably at 28" which is generally the longest, and with my box blade, I maybe close it to around 20" but wouldn't mind a little smaller for deeper cut with my shanks.

I am assuming your can't swap out the ends for more or less length depending on the implement and I'm certainly not buying more than one.

Best thing to do, connect to all your implements, set each implement up so that it is in the middle of it's working range. Make a list of all the pin-pin distances. Find a top link that will work for all of your implements that provides a working range that is acceptable to you for all of your implements which may not even be possible.

It sounds like the shredder will be the longest and may possibly be a deal breaker, but that is the reason for actually getting each dimension and not just guessing.

I normally provide an 18 1/2"- 25 1/2" working range for this series of tractors, but that would not work for all of your applications.

I had the same problem many years ago when I was looking for a cylinder for my toplink except that I needed a slightly shorter one in my case. I bought a cylinder from Surplus Center and cut the rod to the length I wanted by hand with a hacksaw and welded a swivel eye on and it has worked on every piece of equipment I've needed the past 16 years. I did like Brian said and measured the working length I needed for each piece of equipment to come up with the rod length I needed.
