4035 KSB heater question

So my tractor starts fine, for now, although it hasn't been that cold yet. At KOEO, the glow plug/wait to start lamp doesn't illuminate. The few times that it has been cooler, it does run rough for the first minute or two. I suspect that the manifold heater is not coming on.

I have both the owner manual as well as the service manual but no where does it give a theory of operation on the KSB Timer.

Can anyone give me an idea on where I can find a connector pin out as well as a theory of operation so I can accurately test my preheated system?

On my 2011 5035, which is probably similar to yours, the KSB circuit and grid heater circuit are separate. The KSB timer puts 12v on the KSB solenoid to change the timing for X seconds [ actually X minutes, but can not remember the time ]... you should be able to see this voltage at the solenoid during key on. The grid heater is powered by a timer/relay that is energized each time you turn the key on. I think the grid timer/relay is located in the front above the battery, but you can follow the big wire from the grid heater back to find it maybe. The relays are labeled on the top what they are for. I put a switch in line with that timer/relay right after I bought my tractor, and most of the time do not use the grid heater to start it unless it is real cold. I got a real good print on the CD that came with my operators manual and there was a good colored print included with the operators manual, I'm surprised you don't have one. Your grid heater relay/timer might be going bad. Good luck, Jerry...
