I have a JD 4100 hst that blows the glow plug fuse every time I engage the pto. Recently replaced the hot battery cable. Worked fine for a couple of days, but now blows almost instantly when engaged. Thoughts?
I would take a good look at the wiring on the PTO circuit sounds like a direct short to me
Book shows a hot red wire to pto switch, a yellow and a brn/wht from switch to pto relay (located under panel down by right foot) from relay brn/red to rear pto switch and to gear range neutral.
Thanks for your assistance, and forgive my late response, as I have been out of town for a while. I found a severed wire, but there is some sort of odd connector in both the broken wire and the other wire next to it. Are these required or can I just splice the wire and tape it secure?
I will assume your what looks like a wire nut by the plug in connector is what your asking about? It looks like somebody added it at some point to join those wires
To just join and tape two wires seems like a temporary fix to me. A soldered connection would be better IMHO.
I usually use crimp style connectors (bullet, butt, insulated spade) to splice wires if there is room to work.
