I am the proud owner of a JD4100, but am disappointed that there is no built in tool storage on the machine. Has anyone crafted a tool box monut that does not interfere with operation? -- Thanks!

Check out this link <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=custom&Number=33465&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=2&fpart=>http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=custom&Number=33465&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=2&fpart=</A>.

There's a few pictures there too...

By the way....how does one embed a URL so the only thing you see (and click on) is the word <font color=red>"link"</font color=red>?

Like so: <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=custom&Number=33465&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=2&fpart=.>Click here</A>

Go to the post a message page and click on the link for "markup". Basically, it's Left Bracket url= before the address, Right Bracket,then name the link (ie, "Click here") and put /url in brackets after that. The brackets are the lower case keys just below and to the left of the backspace key, the square ones, not the curly ones.

4oaksranch,

I also installed a large toolbox between the ROPS on my JD 4100. However, I have found that it is a bit of pain and will be revising my design. Here is a the link to the thread - <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=custom&Number=91158&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1#Post91158>Toolbox and lights ....</A>

I will be redesigning the mount so that it may be removed when using my rotary tiller and rotary cutter. Those two implements need constant attention when operating and the toolbox kinda gets in the way.... yeah, yeah, yeah... some of you guys warned me of that... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

The loader manual calls these the <font color=red>Masts</font color=red>.

A lot of us have been clamping a rack between the ROPS bars. We're using magnets so the box is easily removeable or replaced with something that suits the occasion. This is a Kubota but it will work with almost any tractor with a ROPS. Also see the thread links the other fellows have provided for complete information and other methods. Hats off to Harv for working me thorough his design. Good luck!

I built a ROPS rack for my 4100, similar to what you see in the other posts. Then I just use a military ammo can for a toolbox, and attach it with a bungie cord to the rack. Works good. I did have to remove my SMV emblem from the rear of the seat to gain eough room. I went to the ammo can, because it is narrow enough not to stick out too far in back of the ROPS. Before trying the ammo can, I used a regular toolbox. It worked fine until I raised an implement to full lift capacity one day. That box went CRUNCH
