It doesn't look broke. but slides out and can be slid in and wacked with small hammer, and seemed to work for a while. Would the line sucking a little air cause shut down? The site glass is full of fuel. Has anyone noticed this before and had same trouble? It looks strange to me. To be clear, it's the in and out elbow on fuel filter that hooks to hoses to tank and to pump. Seems like it might have been pressed in. I pulled filter and cleaned bowl and filter. Now tractor doesn't even try to fire up.

Have a good day....Coffeeman

Having trouble figuring what you're talking about. I had a 4010 about the same year.

Only time I've ever had trouble with a diesel not starting is one time when I replaced the fuel filter on the 240D. The rubber line to the big fuel filter (it had a small one on the LP side of the big filter) had radial cracks in the line. I had to replace the line.

Such a line on your 4010 shouldn't really be old enough to have cracks yet, but could be.

Are you sure you turned the 3 way valve to the 4010 filter back after you reinstalled the bowl and filter?

I am referring to Mahindra 4110. On mine I only find one fuel filter. I got machine running. Ran for one hour and a tenth, then she bogged down, ran real rough and bogged down more to shut down. My filter is on the right side in front of radiator under hood. I suspect dirt, water or leak. I'm sort of worried about pump. Don't know how to check that. I would imagine I need to crack a line somewhere while cranking over. Did have water in fuel in Spring. Replaced one fuel line. It was oozing fuel through it. Also, replaced fuel and put some kind of gunk in it for water. Ran good for 90 hours or more, all summer. Now its down. Acts like it did with water in it, except there is no great amount of white smoke. A little, but not much. Fuel filter changed in Spring. Machine tries to start. Sounds like a gasoline engine that doesn't get good spark .

The in and out fuel hoses fit on to elbow coming from the mounting device on the glass bowl that the filter is seen in. The elbows are in to top of filter housing that contains a fuel shut of and is where glass inspection bowl is screwed into the housing. As I posted, metal elbow just slides out of housing that has site bowl attached to it. I can bump in with hammer and it stays. I just wondered if anyone has had any dealings with this problem?

Coffeeman,

I have seen this problem several times over the years. There is a clear sealer on the elbows of the fuel filter head. We normally remove the fuel filter assembly from the tractor, remove the bowl and filter from the assembly, remove the leaking elbow if possible, clean the filter head and elbow with starting fluid or carb cleaner, reseal with epoxy such as JB Weld, and reassemble. Just my $.02

Hi there
Your 2 cents is gold. I kinda had the idea of gluing them in, but I dismissed it as another shoddy fix that probably wouldn't work. Now I can feel right at home with that repair. Its affordable too.

Hi "721h354"

I forgot to ask: Could the leaking elbow cause the tractor to shut off, as is happening with mine? Elbow snugs in good but may work itself loose.
