4110 4wd mahindra tractor need help with front differential

Hi, I have a 4wd 4110 2005 mahindra tractor that the front differential went in.(im trying to replace the wheelbearings myself) I am having trouble getting the cap off. Have tried using a screwdriver. Any ideas out there?

Trying to get what cap off ? A little more info would help. If your differential went, why are you doing "wheel bearings" ? Do you mean outdrive stub axle bearings or the inner axle bearings in the outdrive or the countershaft bearings in the outdrive ? If your differential actually went, I would recommend dropping the whole front axle assembly and then removing the differential to work on. This way you can be sure to flush the whole axle housing out good before re-assembly so your repairs will last more than a few hours. Metal particles in the housing will destroy any new bearings in short order ...

Im sorry, it was the outdrive stub axle bearing on the left front. There is a "cap" or as i call it a rubber boot on the very bottom of that unit that I think pries off with a screwdriver, but before i attempt it, I was wondering how others have gotten it off. Thanks for your help skip.

Yea, that cap is very similar to a freeze plug except that it's rubber coated. I keep a spare one at home here for when a countershaft breaks (I've broken 3 in the past 10 years). If you're going to use a new one to go back together with, you can puncture that cap with a sharp punch or screwdriver and pop it out like a freeze plug. I knock them out from the inside when I'm down for a countershaft and have been able to reuse one before when very careful popping it out from the backside. Don't know if you've removed that outdrive yet but be careful ... it's very heavy !!!
