Just thought I'd show off my new toy, It's a used 4110 with 110 (okay a few more now /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) hours. It's a great tractor and a quantum leap over the 18 year old 214 which is probably at or past 2000 hrs. I of course had to test the loader by doing some driveway work and had to clean off some awful mud, (I just couldn't leave it dirty /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

My questions are how long should I expect this to last? It will be used for mowing (deck isn't visible in these pictures) about 3 acres of nasty hilly land, taking care of a 1000 ft. gravel driveway, and tree/ branch pulling and other small tasks. It will get proper maintenance and won't be abused. Even with the gas 214, the engine still runs great and starts easily, it's everything else that's become problematic eg, at least 1 PTO belt per season, deck getting cracked, mounting plate breaking, several different voltage regulators and at least a broken motor mount or two after heavy plowing or pulling.

My other question is, are there any specific problems to watch for, or maintenance things to take care of? It has the remainder of the factory warranty until Feb 04 so I'd like to find the bugs and gremlins before then.

Thanks in advance.

Congratulations! Looks like you have a very good and useful tool there /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
You will absolutely love the amount of work you can get done. You will obviously find even more, bigger tasks to tackle now. Don't know if the great feeling ever wears off. Of course the first few scratches help... then you don't feel as bad about getting it dirty.
Are you still pinching yourself? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congratulations! I love the "father and son" picture of the 4110 and 214 side by side. I think these machines will last a long time, and have heard of 4300/4400's with 1500+ hours on them that are still going strong. It should handle the heavier work much better than your little one, so it will probably have fewer cracks, etc. after heavy jobs. Any tractor can be overloaded so working smart will cut repair costs and downtime. Of course you can maximize it's useful lifespan by maintaining it on schedule and keeping it covered when not in use (preferably indoors).

Nice tractor. Have fun and remember to be safe! Restore the 214 its a classic. I have a 214 also and its a great tractor for the time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I received my new 4110 about 6 weeks ago, I know how elated you are! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Can you please check one thing for me please? My tractor was delivered without a handle on the right fender, the holes are there with plugs in them. The dealer thinks it should have one and is trying to get me one, but they seem to be indefinatly backordered. I have a feeling the factory ran out of them so they just put they plugs in to deliver the tractor.

So do you have the handle(right side)? Looking for ammo to go to the dealer with if you do have it.

Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks for all the compliments! I've done a little mowing and played with the loader some so far, but I need to get the tires filled before I feel comfortable trying to mow the back hill. This has also been the perfect excuse to prune our trees back, and boy does it take a lot of cutting to clear this tractor. The only thing I have found that I don't like is the lack of a real glow plug circuit. It sure seems to smoke more and crank longer than my uncle's 655, but if this is my worst complaint, I'll be more than satasfied!
Oh, and KennyD, I do have both handles, but keep in mind this is a used 2001 model so there may have been a running change to save a few pennies /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif , Like the decontenting most auto manufacturers do from year to year to cut production costs.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the quick reply, I did not realize you had a 2001 model.

A trick to the glow plugs if needed: pull up the PTO button or put the range selector in L or H then turn the key and count to 5 or so, this will light the plugs before the engine starts.

kennyd,

I've got 2 handles, right and left, on my 4010 delivered about 4 weeks ago.
