Trying to hook up a 15 gallon pull-behind sprayer from TSC. The electrical connections that come with it are just a couple of battery clamps on the "tractor end". I would like to set up something more permanent. Any suggestions on where to tap in with the hot wire? I would rather not go all the way to the battery post. It's only about an 18 guage wire. I found one spare connector near the rear that I could use, but it is off of the light switch and is only hot when the lights are on.

Thanks,
Ira

Your best bet is to run a heavy wire from the battery, through a relay, fuse, and a switch to a cigarette lighter mounted on the rear under the seat. There are heavy duty ones available at auto parts stores that come with wire and a rubber dust cap for mounting in truck beds.

Do not use the wire you found for the lights, that will sure blow a fuse or damage the light switch.

Are you suggesting a relay in case I want to use it in the future for higher amperage devices? The sprayer pump can't be drawing many amps given the light guage wire and light duty inline switch that came with it.

Thanks,
Ira

Relays are probably a good idea, but when I rigged my B7100 to use my brothers 50 gallon spray rig, I just ran a wire directly from the positive post of the battery back to the right rear fender to a toggle switch I mounted on the fender. I included an inline fuse in that wire. Then I ran a ground wire from the toggle switch to the same bolt to which the rear lights were grounded.

The relay is not needed, but I like to use them. That way, you can pull a hot wire from the ignition switch to activate the relay, so your power feed will only be "on" with the key. Then you could feed extra lights and your new power outlet.

I used 10 gauge wire from the battery, through a 30 amp circuit breaker, then to a 30 amp relay. This feeds all my electrical "extras"
