I found a used 4110 that was "repo'd", at a dealer. I'm not that familiar w/ the Mahindra line, but have been doing research. The question I have is about the price of this machine. They want $13,900 for it. It is the standard 4110, 4wd, diesel, brand new ag tires, 100hrs or so. It looks like it's nearly brand new. However, it does not have any attachments. Is this a good, or reasonable price??

I appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks!!

The price I got here in Ky last year was $19500 with loader. So I'd say it's a pretty good deal. Remember you can almost always buy for less than they are asking.

I guess the question is: Are you going to get the FEL anyway? And a BH? Are used available or would they have to be new? And at full list price for the add-ons? Or some discount? And will aggie tires work for you? Or do you need something else? I'd ask the dealer for the price as you need it equipped. You may find that an attractive repo price on a bare tractor suddenly becomes not so attractive once you build it out. They will practically give you the tractor as long as you agree to buy all new add-ons at full price! That happened to me on several used units I checked out. Fine used tractors to be sure... but built out as I needed them, they almost cost as much as a new, fully-equipped machine... but without the 0% financing.

I'd also check the production year. It goes by the letter in the serial number. My "X" is a 2004. "Y" is 2005. "Z" is 2006 "W" is 2003... etc. While the hours, condition and type of use obviously matter much more, the production year will definitely affect the asking price and resale value to some degree.

I found that the toughest thing about buying a used Mahindra is that you can't just look at eBay's recent completed auctions and come up with an accurate current market price for your area. Unlike JD and Kubota, there simply aren't enough used ones for sale out there to draw any conclusions. In the end, you may simply be forced to compare it to whatever else is out there in your local used tractor market and draw your own conclusion from that.

Thanks for the Feedback! I don't necessarily "have to have" a FEL or back hoe, although I could certainly put them to use. I basically need something to brush hog and do light farm work with. I do prefer the Ag tires, so that one is not a problem. I'll have to check the serial number, but I'm pretty sure it is a 2005 or newer.
It's a fairly big investment and one that I've been putting off for a while, so I just want to make sure I get the right thing. This particular dealership is sort of known for being pricey, so I wanted to see what other buyers/owners thought of the price. It seems that you get a lot of tractor for the $$ w/ Mahindra and that a lot of people like them. We've always had Massey's but I'm ready to branch out...

Regardless, thanks again for the information - this forum is great!

It would be hard to go wrong with a clean, slightly used Mahindra 4110, especially if you have a solid dealership nearby. Just check that letter to confirm the production year and bargain accordingly. Folks tend to get the year wrong all the time. And it does affect price. The letter tells the truth. Also ask about warranty. You are paying some premium to buy from a dealership... so make it pay with some sort of warranty.

BTW, since I bought fully built out and from a private party, I have no idea what mine would have sold for tractor-only. In used equipment, it's all about opportunity, seller motivation and alternative machines available in your market. It's a bit more complicated than just subtracting (or adding) the value of parts. Friends joke that I bought the Bradco I wanted and happened to get the Mahindra tractor it was attached to thrown in for free. While far from technically or financially accurate, it does speak volumes about what can drive used sales and making sure you define and go after exactly what you need. I could never have afforded the machine I've got if I'd have had to build it up from separately purchased parts.

For what it's worth, the closest I found to your Mahindra on a late model, similar-sized, used tractor from a dealership (very rare!!!) was a 2003 Kioti DK40 (same engine as the Mahindra 4110) with FEL and 375 hours (+/-) at an asking price of $15,000. Would the dealer have come down? I never really had the opportunity to push it. I found the Mahindra and was blown away by it. The rest is history. :D

Thanks again Dougster - I'm heading to the dealership to check the numbers (if I can get there before close tonight). I'll be sure to check on the warranty and see if they'll work on the price. I'm tempted to let it sit for a week or so, it's getting into their slow season for tractor sales here. They might be willing to come down or throw something in - who knows? But the risk would be that somebody else picks it up... The story behind it was that this place sold the tractor to a guy, the guy had some health problems and basically said "come pick it up, I can't make the payments". So, it was repo'd voluntarily. That's probably a rarity as well. Then they put brand new ag tires on it because they sold another that the buyer wanted turf, so they swapped. Anyway - the information has been very helpful. I really appreciate it!

when i was in the market for a tractor this spring, my dealer had a used 4110 with a loader. i am trying to go by memory (which isn't great!), but i think he wanted around 16000 for it, with just under 300 hours. i had to finance my purchase, and it worked out that i was getting a better monthly payment on a new unit due to interest rates. plus i could start with a fresh warranty, and put the first scratch on the paint job myself! (not that its a time to celebrate when scratching your new investment!) my dealer sells new 4110's with a loader for $19000 up here in Vermont. i love my 4110, and recommend one to everyone! out of all the mahindra's that my dealer sells, the 4110 is the biggest seller for him. :)

Yep - the financing options on a new tractor may make it worth while. I'll have to look at that now as well. So far, I'm hearing/reading that a lot of 4110 owners are pretty happy. I'm going back to take a 'test drive' this weekend and get some more details. The shop is only open until 5PM, so getting down there after work isn't possible... Thanks for the response Mike!

I purchased my '05 Mahindra for $19,300 in May of '05. So far I love it.

I kinda think 13,900 is a little high for a tractor only. Try to hold out for a better price. There is one listed here in tx, a 2002 with fel for 9500 and it looks clean, but sw pa is a long way from here. I drive it every year.
