2005 Mahindra 4110
Hello all, I am having a problem with my 2005 4110 shutting off randomly. It acts like the key is being turned off when it does this. It does this mostly below 2000 rpms, and sometimes under a load at higher rpms. Occasionally I can keep it from shutting off by giving it more fuel by pedal or lever and it will recover and not shut off. So far I have drained fuel tank and replaced with fresh diesel and replaced fuel filter. Any help or suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Mike.

I would start with the safety shutoff under your seat. Sounds like an intermittent open circuit and sometimes it closes quickly enough for your tractor recover. Possibly a loose or corroded connection you can try unplugging and plugging back in the plug connectors on your solenoid as well. I would start with inspecting the wire that leads to the seat interlock for cuts or pinches

Thanks for the reply Shawn, I could not find a safety shut off under the seat, this model has the suspension seat. I did watch the fuel shutoff solenoid plunger move every time it cuts off on its on. While the key is in the on position it should not move until the key is turned off. So I either have a bad ignition switch, relay or fuel shut off solenoid. Some more troubleshooting to do. Thanks, Mike.

My fuel shutoff solenoid was warrantied at around 80 hours on my max 28. You could see inside the connectors black burnt marks and corrosion for arc ING. The dealerships mech said it was a common issue they faced with that model and packing the connections full with dielectric grease helps keep the moisture out and prevent arcing. He said the plugs are designed to be watertight but apparently are not.

Sounds like you are on the right path now if you witnessed the solenoid changing positions.

Also I wish I had your seat design! I thought the single seat that turned and flipped positions on the max would be nice and really liked it over 2 separate seats. It is my only complaint about that tractor. I had to jump that interlock out 5 hours into ownership for pinched wires.

I had problems with my 8560 where it would just shut off from 5 min to 3 hours of running. It was the relay in the fuse box that was bad.

Isn't there an issue with air getting into the braided fuel line on this model?

No.... and the fuel shutoff solenoid wound not be actuating if it was air. You would just see a lot of smoke.

This is electrical. I would start with a multi meter and see how much power is getting to your machine from the battery and also check your ground connections. IMO the ignition switch is most likely the problem. Check all the connections to the back of it and also check your fuse box... if you have a lot of corrosion in the box the FIP fuse could be shorting

Thanks for the replies, I have not had the time to troubleshoot further but what is working for the time being is I unplugged the fuel shutoff solenoid and when i want to cut the tractor off I just pull the kill switch cable this has been working so far, it has not cutoff anymore since doing this.
