4110 rear end leak Permatex gasket maker. DOES it WORK?

Hi all.
After splitting 4110 few years ago it sarted leaking little fter 2nd season. Few more years later till now. Used box blade a lot this Spring and leaking worse.

We think splitting 1/2 inch & patching? Does Permatex do a good job? Or , what would be better?

I used Permatex Ultra Grey to seal up my axle housing a few years ago. (removed the housing to change an axle seal).
Seemed like good stuff, no leaks.

Yes. it will work fine IF you prep the surfaces properly. I would recommend CRC Brakleen, it evaporates very quickly and leaves a perfect surface for the silicone. Mine hasn't leaked in the 13 years since I had to split the rear half.
