In the past couple of weeks, i have noticed my hand throttle getting worse and worse. When i am driving around just using the foot throttle, and let off when i stop, the rpm's are still reved up a couple hundred rpm's higher then the lowest idle point when the hand throttle is all the way down. I have to push the hand throttle back down to bring the rpm's the rest of the way back down. Then last week when i was mowing with the brush hog, i would find myself constantly having to keep bringing the throttle back up on the hand control as it would just slowly creep down on its own. Is there a spring that controls the throttle that might be to strong, or an area i need to lube? i am assuming it is a simple fix? I hate to truck it to the shop if it's something easy. Any info would be great! Thanks in advance!

There is probably just something you can tighten to hold it firmly. Something to provide friction.

Thats the way it was on the Deeres I had, it was at the bottom of the hand throttle.

I havent looked at mine since I find it plenty tight at the moment. If I get the chance I will look tonight.

Mike, sounds to me like something has loosened up, and is causing the movement.

It's been over a year since I had my steering column covers off, but if I'm not mistaken there's a spring-loaded nut & bolt you can adjust hand throttle tension with - a very simple fix. Just 4 or 5 screws hold the covers on.
