John Deere 4110
I have a 4110 with the 47 snowblower and recently the blower isn't throwing snow like it used to. It seems to have gotten worse the past 2 or 3 storms. It will still throw powder snow ok (not like it used to), but barely dribbles wet heavy snow and seems to be bogging the tractor down when fully loaded. It seems like the snow isn't feeding as fast as it was because the snow is collecting in front of the blower more than it was and there are piles left when you get to the edge of the driveway and back up. We have a x728 with the 47 blower at work and the difference is night and day the way it works compared to mine. I'm wondering where I should start looking or what might be the problem. Could it be the tractor mid pto slipping under load or the snowblower gearbox? Any help is appreciated!

Have you checked ALL the shear pins?

as Ken mentioned, start with shear pins,
also take a good look at your augers. the 2nd stage impellar
has fins that propel the snow out of the chute, and they often
become damaged, or bend backwards from all the ice and crap that sometimes
gets past the first auger.

Sure sounds like the auger is not working... what snow makes it past the auger gets blown out by the blower. More fine snow makes it through than the wet snow that just pushes ahead of the auger.

I have a 4110 and a 47" blower. I had the same problem--one shear pin was broken and only half of the auger was working.

The shear pins are all good but the impeller is pretty beat up. My guess is that's the problem. It has a metal impeller and ours at work has a plastic impeller. Is there any preference to which style I should get or is the plastic an updated/improved part?

Have you had this snowblower since new? And has it always had a metal impeller?

Can you order either/or...? part no. AM109105 ?

I bought it used and have owned it for 4 years now. The gearbox oil seal leaked when I bought it so because everything had to be taken apart to replace the seal, I went through the blower replacing the chain, all the bearings and locking collars, and the short shaft u joints and it worked great until the last few storms. The impeller is likely original, but I have no idea how old the snowblower is. It does have the current model decals. I have only been able to find a replacement metal impeller for $250 which is that part number. I searched other posts and see that the plastic impeller now used may take more abuse from ice than the metal but does not throw the wet snow as well.

do a search--a while back there were several articles about some rubber belt-like attachments for the impeller that improved the efficiency of the impeller.

Lots of luck searching for anything on TBN. Put in the search parameters, and get much, much more of "everything". Not sure why it is so cumbersome... or if there is a tutorial for searching that explains a better way.
