A while back, quite a while back I had PTO problems with my 4120 E Hydro compact tractor. It the PTO, quit working and got quotes to fix it, which was way more than I wanted to pay and besides the JD place could not get the part to fix it anyway. I got the part # and got another # it could be listed under. For 2 and 1/2 years the part could not be found, even though it was still being made by JD to go on new tractors,(they make more selling a new tractor than a part) and would not pull one off the line. Well 3 weeks ago, the part I wanted showed up at a used parts dealer,( they buy tractors that are no longer and source out the parts), well they had one for my tractor for $800 and it also showed JD site but said to contact dealer to order. The used part had a 90 day warranty, and new one from JD had a 1 year warranty for $1200. I called a different dealer, (that was much more helpful and friendly than the one ten minutes away) that was an hour away, and I had to carry my tractor over to them but was given a quote several thousand cheaper to fix. This dealer gave me the two #'s that the part could be under and when I found the part I called the man I had been dealing with and while on the phone he looked it up and ordered it. There were eight and I got one. Carried my tractor over and of course I had to wait my turn in line to get it fixed but got it back a week and a half later. This dealer has earned my trust and my business from now on, even if it means me going a couple of hours round trip to do business. They put my tractor on the dynamo to check out the PTO and HP and both were fine. Sun South JD dealers are fair and square.
