Hey guys...i have a CUb cadet 1050 with 50 inch cut deck..last year I got the MTD 42 inch snowblower to put on it..and it worked great all winter.

We are getting our first BIG snow this weekend, and I've had a bit of an issue arise I am hoping you can help with

i have a 200ft driveway..that is not flat..it's up a hill....going down the hill I was only blowing about 3 or 4 inches of snow..but my blower would keep "cutting out"..so I'd have to push the engage button in and then pull it out to restart it...sometimes it would do this only every 15 or 20 ft..but sometimes it would start up as soon as I pulled the button out, but shut off as soon as I pushed the gas pedal to go forward, then it would shut the blower down again.

Now..the weird part...I got to the end of the driveway..engaged the blower again..and I could blow with NO problems going all the way UP the driveway.

could be a coincidence that it would continually shut off going down the driveway and not up??????????????????????

Anyway.....something aint' quite right, and hoping you guys can help me out.

Thanks for any input you can give

Sounds like you are raising up off the seat on the way down. Just maybe. :)

Just what I was thinking.....something causing one of your safety switches to disengage the PTO....either you're raising off the seat, or ??????

guys...that's EXACTLY what it's acting like..like I am getting off the seat..But I can assure you that my 265 pounds of butt is firmly in the seat and it's compressed all the way down...after it did this to me for a while..I actually made a conscious effort to stay all the way back in the seat.

Is there any other switch that could do this? It seems like as soon as I push forward on the "gas pedal" it'll shut down the PTO...Just one other thing I Noticed...when I back up in reverse the blower will stay engaged..normally there is a cut off that shuts it down when I back up.

Ok update. . . ..

I went out and blew some more snow...same problem...PTO kept shutting off when I stepped on the forward/gas pedal

So...what I did just to see if it would affect anything...was to disable the reverse safety cutoff switch...I pushed the little triangle on the dashboard in..so the light came on......

Now..my blower will work continously without cutting out...so it's something to do with the reverse/backup cut off switch...where is that located?? It isn't the seat switch.
