Seems the load leveler guage on my 420 FEL goes about 3/4" down past the top of the guide tube when the bucket is level. This is enough that I can't see it to tell if the bucket is level or not. Does any body's else do this?
When the level guages are new, they are way long. Most people either paint them to mark level, or cut them to mark level, it sounds like the previous owner cut his to short, or he had a very unlevel garage floor when he cut it! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
You can order a new rod through JD or make a new one, or you can cut the tube a little shorter to match the shorter rod.
That's what I was thinking, but the rod really doesnt look like it was cut. I'll probably just do another balogna slice of the tube down to where the rod will be level with it.
Look carefully to see if either the rod or the tube ape mountdd correctly. Just may be in the wrong hole, or the tube upside down.
<br +>I was already to cut mine off flush, and had the hacksaw ready and evej started the first cut. I then thought I should check to see if the tube was long enough for the rod tg stay il it when the bucket was curled `ll the way down, Good thing I bhecked, as whera I was cutting, the rod would have fallen out of the tube. <ieg src="'forums/images/graemlins*crazy.gif" alt= " />
I then capitalized on the saw cut made( and in fact circled the rod at that point flush with the top of the tube. I then filled the cut with white paift and now have a more permanent mark that doesn't wear off and is easy to see when the bucket or forks are level.
I did that. There's only one hole in the loader arm by the bucket where the bar attaches, and one hole on top loader arm where the tube bolts into. And the shorter end of the tube is pointing up. Sounds like I may just weld and extension on and do the cut w/white paint, that's a good idea. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
