I have a JD 4200 when I am in high range and push my foot to the floor on the fwd pedal engine rpm drops to 1400 and the speed doesn't pick up. Only does this in high range.

That's because you're in high range. It takes more umph from the engine to get going in high, you've only got 26hp. What rpms are you running? Don't mash the pedal down easing into it

When i have the trator powered up at 2400 rpm , level ground, not pulling anything, even easing into it just powers right out! Never use to do that, only have 230 hrs on it.

Welcome to the forum.
You need to understand the HST. It is not like an accelerator feeding more gas to the engine. Keep the rpm's up, and back off the forward pedal when the rpm's drop. Pushing down harder just makes the problem worse, not better.

If it didn't "use to do that", then it was just because you didn't have it loaded the same way (or you need to changed the tranny filter and screen).

What you describe is normal for a HST transmission. It will do that in a lower range too, if loaded enough.

Cropp, is the RPM just dropping or is the engine bogging down and losing RPM as if you were dragging an anchor?

Does the 4200 have a Loadmatch function like the 3x20 series?

Totally feels like an anchor even slowly easing into the pedal throttled right up it will not accelerate bogs down to 1400 rpm, like I was climbing a long steep hill.

Better get a dealer to check it out.

I was mostly going by your comment
when I am in high range and push my foot to the floor
but now you indicate it occurs when slowly easing into the pedal.

Wish you well at finding the problem.

Have you done your 200-hour service on the machine yet? Cleaning the suction screen and changing the hydraulic system's filter is part of the service. If there are metal shavings in the suction screen, you may have something ugly going on inside the tranny.

Are your brakes one or both dragging. On my 4310 if you don't regularly use them they stick or not fully release. There have been lots of posts for this problem. I think most deal with the break rod corroding where it enters the axle housing.
